Pacifism is Dumb

You know, a lot of these leftys like to argue for gun control from the pacifism angle...that violence is bad. Well, we know that a lot of these self-proclaimed pacifists are more than willing to do violence in the name of their ideals. They've proven it in the past from violent hippies to terrorist actions. So most of them are just blathering on about stuff that sounds good but that they wouldn't really adhere to if faced with a life or death choice.

I mean, as dumb as the left is, they still have human instinct to save their sorry butts when push comes to shove. That whole fight or flight thing. It is a natural response to a threat innate in all creatures from rats to apes to humans. And fight or flight generally depends on the type of threat and whether fighting or fleeing has a greater chance of survival.


As an example, if you are being threatened by a cheetah, unless you are a gazelle or a bird, fleeing is probably a bad idea...so fight. If you are being attacked by a crocodile on land which most people can outrun but few can successfully fight, you should run...unless you have a handy piece of technology such as a gun.

But there is a minority of the left that are real true pacifists. These people have convinced themselves that violence is wrong in all cases to the point that they can override their natural fight or flee reaction and just stand there quoting idiot philosophers and the like in hopes that it might avert their own doom.

One of those philosophers (not really an idiot actually) that they like to quote is Ghandi. He said he considers pacifism superior to violence...but he also said:

I do believe that, where there is only a choice between cowardice and violence, I would advise violence... I would rather have India resort to arms in order to defend her honour than that she should, in a cowardly manner, become or remain a helpless witness to her own dishonor.

In other words, he understood the nature of violence and of evil: that evil will do what it wills and the only way to stop it sometimes is violence. Thus, violence is not inherently evil.

This really shows the problem with pacifism. I mean, if you think about it, the idea of everyone getting along and never fighting each other and all of that is wonderful. It's the dream of Christianity after all, that when all is said and done man will live in perfect harmony with God and His creation. But absent such an idyllic situation, man cannot live that way. It isn't in our imperfect nature to do so, and so there will be evil. And that is where pacifism steps in to muddle things up. Pacifism attempts to have such an idyllic world without enforcing it...without the life-changing spiritual transition required for human beings to live in such a way.

Pacifism, in a world of evil, invites violence. It creates situations wherein massive violence can be accomplished. Gun-free zones are a perfect example of this.  Like schools or movie theatres. Ideally, people don't bring guns into such places to shoot people. But that is just ideally. In reality, when massive violence ensues, it is always in these kinds of places where guns aren't allowed. Summed up:

Pacifism itself is evil because it is an accomplice to evil. 

You can print that on a T-shirt if you like. It is the plain and simple truth. Pacifism is a culture of victims. If you tell a bad guy that no matter what he does you refuse to retaliate, he licks his chops and gets ready for some killin'. There are actually bad people out there who like taking lives. And there are also nutjobs out there that are equally as willing to do so. Making places that give them free reign for the 15 minutes or so it takes for the cops to show up is not only stupid, but enables the very violence those who make such rules seek to avoid.

Take it from Ghandi: peace is good, every soldier can tell you that...but pacifist cowardice is the ultimate foolishness.
