Sometimes Even Your Friends Don't Get it

Sometimes even the people you grew up with can't see what's happening right in front of their faces.  All they see is the utopian claptrap.  And the free stuff.  They're smart people, but sometimes you have to wonder...

    Two reasons people willfully believe a lie: either they are afraid of the truth, or they want the lie to be true. You have to admit, the real truth is pretty grim, so maybe it's easier for people to just "go along" with the herd and hope for the best. I don't know what the best is, maybe ending up as a nice steak instead of a cheeseburger?
