Since today is Veterans' Day, and everyone is praising the men and women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces, I thought I would give a big "THANK YOU" to a group who also serves, but rarely, if ever, are recognized as having done so: Military spouses.
It's easy to recognize the sacrifices that so many in our military have had to make, and, in fact, continue to make. But few realize that behind these men and women, there is a long line of strong, giving husbands and wives who make sacrifices that most never even consider.
These would include everyday things, like trying to budget a family on a military income, which is generally well below what the member might get in the outside world, to less frequent difficulties, like trying to move your family across the country or even overseas every few years, to the ultimate: Trying to keep your family together while wondering if your loved one will make it back alive from their latest deployment.
It's a tough life, and there are some tough people doing it, so you don't have to.
THANK YOU, MILITARY SPOUSES!!!!
Today is also Armistice Day, the anniversary of the day in 1918 when a ceasefire brought an end to hositilities on the Western Front during World War I.
In OTHER anniversary news...
...today is the anniversary of the birth of one of NP's very own. I'm not going to name names, because she prefers to remain Anonymiss, but around here, we like to think of her as "Snow." I know it's condiered rude to divulge a lady's age, but I think she's doing pretty well for turning 29 again.
So if you get a chance, drop in to one of her posts and wish her a wonderful, happy birthday, because she truly deserves one.
And in her honor, you might want to send some cookies. Being a manly man type of guy, I didn't bake these, I stole them:
